Thousands bid adieu to Danny Shaiza

Thousands of people thronged Mission ground at Alungtang to pay their final adieu to former MLA Hangzik Danny Shaiza before his mortal remains was laid to rest at Ukhrul today.
The mortal remains of Danny Shaiza was carried from his residence at Tangrei upto Mission ground where a condolence service was first held.
Local MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam while speaking at the condolence service said that he had personally come from Imphal to pay his respect to the departed soul.

Late Danny Shaiza was a well meaning person, with a clean heart and ever willing to serve the people, said the MLA and added that his ideals must be upheld by one and all.
Urging the people of Ukhrul to preserve the good legacy of Danny Shaiza, the MLA urged all not to forget what he stood for in life.
Member of the National Commission for Woman and a close family member, Soso Shaiza reached out to the people with a word from the Bible, that there is God to take care of everyeone.
TNL president Hopingson A Shimray said that the untimely demise of Danny Shaiza is a great loss for the Tangkhul community and added that the people will always remember him with love and fondness.
Hangzik Danny Shaiza popularly known as Ajei Boi by all and son of former Chief Minister late Yangmaso Shaiza was born on September 21, 1954 at Ukhrul.
He began his political career in 1995 and was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly for three consecutive terms from Ukhrul Assembly Constituency in 2000, 2002 and 2007 .
A prominent BJP leader of Manipur from the Tangkhul community and the first BJP MLA from Ukhrul AC, he passed away at Imphal on February 28, following a protracted ailment.
He was 66 .
He is survived by three sons, two daughters and wife Wungmi Shaiza.
The eldest son Homung Shaiza expressed gratitude to the people of Ukhrul for honouring his father in a befitting manner and for the befitting condolence service at Mission ground.
Condolence messages from BJP leaders, Hunphun Hanga, HSL, HKL, UDSA and Ex-MLA forum of Manipur also came pouring in.
The Tangkhul community while paying homage to the departed leader presented Tangkhul traditional shawls as a mark of gratefulness to the late man.
Later, Rev Matthew Mung Pastor of Phungyo Baptist Church, Ukhrul performed the act of committal and the body was laid to rest.
The programme was attended by Ukhrul ADC members, Headmen, BJP leaders, social organisation leaders and the congregation members of town Churches.
