Sapormeina-Saikul bridge pose threats to many

Thousand of people in 40 villages of Konghom areas, Saikul Sub-Division have faced tremendous hardships as the only means of connectivity, the Sapormeina-Saikul bridge is no more viable owing to the damage caused by the recent incessant and heavy shower .
The Sapormeina � Saikul bridge constructed over Gundung river serves as a lifeline for the inhabitants of the villages and also leads to Kangpokpi DHQs .
Big cracks appeared at the base of bailey bridge near Chalkot village during the encounter with cyclone Mora and subsequently the district administration and concerned authority sealed the bridge in the interest of the people's safety .

However, the bridge was severely affected by the recent flood which almost swept away the bridge rendering it nonfunctional, reports our correspondent .
Earlier, Assistant Engineer of Sadar Hills Division, PWD had supervised the Sapormeina police to deny access until further renovation but no measures have been taken up till now .
United Welfare Committee, Kangpokpi district yesterday inspected the damaged bridge and sought the State Government's attention for its early restoration considering the tremendous hardships faced by the people .
