Imphal, August 27 2021:
The Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has urged the Government to increase the age cap of 38 years for applying to State Government jobs.
In a statement issued today, KIMACS said a number of Indian States had already increased the age cap to 40 years and some have even hiked the maximum age limit to 45 years.
States like Telangana, Goa, Rajasthan, Assam, West Bengal etc have already increased the age limit to 45 years and Meghalaya has also completed all due process to increase the age cap.
There were no recruitment during the last two years due to COVID-19 pandemic, and there are also some departments in the State which had no recruitment in the last ten years, added the statement.
Even MPSC has been unable to hold exams regularly.
Many youths of the State who have completed various courses are left high and dry with no recruitment process in the pipeline.
Many youngsters who have undergone courses for Veterinary Doctors or various engineering courses have crossed age limit as there were no recruitments for posts related to their courses, added KIMACS in the statement.
With recent Government reports saying there are more than 8000 vacant posts in various departments of the State, it is advisable to increase the age cap so as to give a chance to many qualified but unemployed youths of the State, added the Statement.
KIMACS also said there were 8,16,888 registered unemployed youths in the State Employment Exchange in January 2017, out of which 2,45,305 are female job seekers while the remaining 5,71,583 are males.
The number of registered unemployed youths has been decreasing each year as they didn't renew their registration after the stipulated time and this is one reason for the lack of reliable data about the number of unemployed youths in the State.
The Employment Exchange should compile reliable data on the number of unemployed youths in the State and frame appropriate schemes to help provide assistance in terms of loans or the likes based on their educational qualifications.
