Lions Club organises one day service at Tungjoy village

Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol, Lion Clubs International District 322D organized a 'One day service activities on village adoption and upliftment' in association with the Lions Club of Imphal city, Lions Club of Chanura, Lions Club of Imphal Ningol collective, Lions Club of Imphal central, Lions Club of Imphal Excellence and Tungjoy village Authority Council at Tungjoy village community hall on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Lion MJF, SCA, M Gojendra Singh PDG stated that the village adoption and upliftment programme would surely benefit and impact the village as experts from different fields would be interacting with the villagers.
He informed that Lions Club is an international voluntary service organisation functioning in 210 countries with 47,000 clubs.
During the programme, Lion Th Kesho Singh, District GMT coordinator spoke on 'cleaning of village', Lion MJF S Premabati, president Lions Clubs of Imphal Chanura on 'child rights/women rights', Lion H Subhra, Zone chairperson on 'organic farming', Lion Y Ranjit, Lions club of Imphal central on 'drugs and alcohol Abuse' and Thokchom Povil, Fishery department on 'development of fish culture'.
Lion MJF L Sanatombi Devi in her keynote address said that every year the club members conduct social service in various forms.
She expressed gratitude to the club president, secretary and members for cooperating with the village adoption and upliftment programme at Tungjoy village and other club activities.
Specialist doctors including Dr James Elangbam, Dr James Ahanthem, Dr Kamson Anthony, Dr Sallengam and others also conducted a free medical camp for the villagers.
Later, Fish seed fingerlings were also distributed to the villagers.
The programme was compered by Memyo Ningombi, Lions club of Imphal Leimarol, welcome address by Seba Marcus, chairman Tungjoy village authority, while vote of thanks was proposed by Thekho Mary, chairman Tungjoy Women's Society.
It was attended by Tungjoy villagers, Lions club members from Imphal, Senapati and Mao.
