With the date of the extension of NSCN (IM) cease-fire without territorial limit less than just a week away, agitations against it have reached a feverish pitch with various organizations staging sit in protest at many places of the Manipur.
Government employees, school teachers and students, businessmen, women member all thronged the dharna sites at various places in thousands and sat for hours.
Protesting against the NSCN (IM)-Government of India cease-fire extension in Manipur, around 40 handicapped children along with the faculty members of Mangwa School for Handicapped, Charhajare staged a sit-in protest today at the school gate.
The protest began from 10 am to 4 pm.
Hundreds of teachers and students of Langdum High School and Langdum Primary School staged a sit-in protest against the extension.
Teachers, non teaching staffs and students of DM College of Commerce held sit-in protest near the PCTC oil pump.
Teachers and Students of Kumari High School (Heirangoithong), Model School, St Savio School (RIMS road), Mangoljao English School (Tinsid Road), T Doren Memorial Academy.
Bless Academy (Tera Bazar), Little Birds' School (Moirang), Unified Brothers' English School (Andro), Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School, Memorial Model Academy (Yairipok), Koloipan High School (Khumbong), Praja Higher Secondary School, Baby Seikam English High School, Keibi High School, Pari Imom Sindamshang High School (Langjing), Don Bosco High School (Langjing) Galaxy School and Chingamakha Sun Shine Junior High School.
United Students� Association, Wangoi also staged a sit-in protest under the aegis of UCM.
A sit-in protest for young children organized by the Model Club, Chingamakha was participate, by over 500 children.
Elderly scholars of the locality narrated folk-tales to the children on the age old relationships between the hill and valley people and their respective roles in moulding the history of Manipur.
All Manipur Body Builder Association also staged a sit-in protest against the cease-fire extension today at office of Arts Society Manipur in Keisampat.
Sit-in protest against the extension was organized by All Manipur Engineering Departments Unions Council at PWD main gate today where over one thousand employees of PWD, PHED, MID and Electricity Department took part.
The protestors observed two minute silence to mourn the demise of protestors in separate agitations.
High Court Employees Association, Regional Tasar Research Station and Research Extension Centre, Central Silk Board, Board of Secondary Education and Social Welfare Association also organized sit-in protest at its offices complex respectively.
In Imphal's Chasad Avenue an all community sit-in protest was held today with over 200 persons participating in it.
In Sagolband Kendra, ACOAM Lup under the aegis of UCM, organized sit-in protests all over the Kendra to protest against the extension.
Asom Samaj, Manipur also staged sit-in protest against the extension at Nagamapal Ima Market shed.
The members also observed two minute silence in honour of the demised persons.
Members of All Ningthoukhong Shopkeepers' Association and Medical and Sales Representative Association of Manipur also staged sit-in protest against the extension.
A sit-in protest organized by the Women Development Organization, Moirangkhunou, against the truce extension in Manipur which began from July 23 concluded today.
Sit-in protest against the cease-fire extension were also held at Nongpok Senjam, Sagolband, Minuthong Hatta, Heirok Pt 2 Bazar, Thangmeiband Lilasingkhongnangkhong, near Ibo tonsana School, Wahengbam Leikai Moirang Parking, Sagolband Thangjam Leirak, Lilando Lampak, Nambol Phoijing, Cheirouba Ching, Langthabal and Wangjing Bazar.
