ADVANI CONFIRMS TALK PROGRESS REPORTS

The Union Home Minister LK Advani today confirmed a report in the Indian Express which reported that the NSCN (IM) has agreed to continue the ongoing peace talk even while the ceasefire agreement undergoes drastic changes.
The Home Minister did not deny the report when a 25 member delegation of Northeast MPs Forum met him this morning at his office, the Manipur Information Centre, Delhi (MICD) said in a release received here.
The delegation met the Home Minister in view of tomorrow�s meeting of all Chief Ministers of the Northeastern States with the Prime Minister to discuss the present turmoil in the region after the Bangkok agreement.
Manipur will be represented by Governor Ved Marwah as the State is presently under President�s Rule.
Advani also told the delegation led by the Forum chairman PR Kyndiah that the ceasefire extension will be reviewed before July 31.All the three MPs from Manipur were part of the delegation.
Advani also assured that the Centre would make an announcement on the ceasefire issue before July 31.A delegation of the MPs and MLAs Forum, Manipur also met former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar this morning and sought his support in the demand for withdrawal of the ceasefire territory.
The former Prime Minister while saying that the Centre has committed a big mistake demanded that the controversial ceasefire agreement should be withdrawn immediately.
The delegation also met the NCP leader Sharad Pawar.
The leader also assured his party�s support to the demand of the people of Manipur.
Meanwhile the MICD said the Centre received a boost as the Government emissary K Padmanabhaiah in his two day meeting with the NSCN (IM) leadership at Amsterdam, managed to convince the Naga leaders of the need to continue the negotiation even while the ceasefire agreement undergoes drastic changes.
