Nagaland most peaceful State in the country: Gen Chauhan

Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Chairman, Lt.Gen Shokin Chauhan said Nagaland was one of the peaceful States in the country today.
'There is absolutely no violence in the State,' he said while interacting with press personnel at Kohima on Friday.
Expressing his happiness that the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) currently in ceasefires with the Government of India were receptive and observing ground rules of the ceasefires, CFMG Chairman disclosed that NSCN (K) led by Khango Konyak had also entered into a fresh ceasefire with the Center for a period of one year effective April 15, 2019 .
Now the Center maintains ceasefires altogether with NSCN (IM), GPRN/NSCN headed by MB Neaokpao Konyak and N Kitovi Zhimomi, NSCN (R) led by Y Wantin Naga and NSCN (K) led by Khango Konyak.

'I am happy that Nagaland has witnessed one of the most peaceful elections in the recent times,' he said.
'I have been meeting with the representatives of all groups that are maintaining ceasefires with the Center and telling them that they should remain in their designated camps and should not move around with guns or intimidate anyone during the elections in the State' .
'I am happy that there was no report of movement or intimidation by any Naga underground cadres during the recently held elections in the State,' he said.
'We have witnessed one of the most peaceful elections in the State' .
When asked about the status of the ongoing Naga political talks, Gen Chauhan said the question should be asked to Interlocutor to Center-Naga peace talks, RN Ravi.
'My role is to implement the mutually agreed upon ground rules of the ceasefire,' he said.
He further explained that his role was to create an atmosphere conducive for political takes by parties in ceasefires.
'And, when there is peaceful environment and no violence reported even at the time of elections, then one can hope that the peace process is going in the right direction to reach its logical conclusion,' he stated.
