AYC files cyber complaint for derogatory message on Facebook

Concerned with a 'derogatory message defaming Andro and its people' on Facebook, Andro Youth Club has filed a complaint to the Cyber Crime Unit of the police, said general secretary of the club Aseibam Nandakumar today.
Speaking during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Nandakumar alleged that the derogatory message which has maligned the image of Andro was uploaded via a 'suspected fake account' on Facebook on April 25 .
"The message incites people against the Andro citizens.
It encourages people to beat Andro men when they come to Imphal and snatch and undo clothes of Andro women to shame them," alleged Nandakumar.
The club is responsible for the welfare of the people and can not remain a mute spectator when Andro citizens are attacked this way, he said conveying that it has filed a complaint to the cyber crime unit of the police to bring to justice the perpetrator behind the hate message.
Further, the people of Andro believe that law will award befitting punishment to those involved, he added.
Nandakumar further blamed MLA K Meghachandra for igniting such hate comments on social media.
The MLA had allegedly compared Andro to 'Africa', he said and added that a chain of hate comments started with the alleged statement of the MLA.
MLA K Meghachandra has his origin in Andro Kendra's Top.
He should clarify and apologise to the Andro public for his statement, said Nandakumar and cautioned that the MLA will be boycotted if he fails to clarify.
It may be mentioned that due to alleged irregularities in election of Outer Parliamentary seat held on April 18, repoll for 12 polling stations including Andro AC's 7/32 Yambem (C) was held on April 24 .
There were allegations of misconduct and some unconfirmed report of violence during the repoll in Andro.
Andro is identified as a stronghold of BJP.
11 candidates including BJP's RK Ranjan, CPI's Dr M Nara, INC's Oinam Nabakishore, RJSP's Senjam Nandishwore, MDPF's Gurumayum Tonsana Sharma, NEIDP's RK Anand, MPP's Oinam Jugindro and Independent candidates - Moirangthem Totomsana Nongshaba, RK Somendro alias Kaiku, Wahengbam Pobitra and Md Iliyash Khan are in fray for the seat.
The vote will be counted on May 23 .
