Drafting committee mulls incorporating JCILPS' 5 points

The committee constituted to draft the new bill on protection of indigenous people of Manipur which is acceptable to all held its third sitting on Saturday.
The sitting was attended by representatives of the High Court Bar Association of Manipur (HCBAM) and All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) .
Chairman of the drafting committee Th Debendra while briefing the media, said that HCBAM members will be submitting a report in the coming two or three days.
The report will be discussed in the next sitting.
He also said that the committee is trying to meet the demands of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) by incorporating the five points after discussing the pros and cons with the experts.
Debendra explained that the drafting committee is willing to take inputs from interested intellectuals on a daily basis.
The press conference held at the office of the Revenue Minister, Old Secretariat Building was attended by eight HCBAM members namely senior advocate and President of the association Kh Binoykumar, senior advocate L Shyamkishor, senior advocate I Lalitkumar, senior advocate Namoijam Ibotombi, senior advocate N Kumarjit, executive member Th Modhu, advocate A Romenkumar and secretary Ng Jotindro and five AMBA members - senior advocate H Chandrajit Sharma, General Secretary Supriya, Joint Secretary A Neelakumar, Vice President L Manaobi, senior advocate S Lakhikanta.
Drafting Committee member and MLA RK Anand said the committee is minutely studying on how far the State Jurisdiction can act.
On a query, the committee also informed that they will be engaging constitutional experts in drafting the new Bill.
