MoS (Independence) Agriculture K Ranjit has appealed to all individual and organizations concerned to stop encroaching upon the land belonging to State Mechanized Farm at Lamphelpat.
The Minister made the appeal while talking to reporters at the office chamber of the Farm Manager after having inspected the farm land, office and other projects being taking up by the Farm.
Expressing serious concern over the dwindling of the Farm land, Ranjit asserted that steps would be soon taken up to stop private individuals from encroaching upon the land as well as to stop allotment of land to other organizations.
He said that he would be approaching the Revenue Minister with the request not to allot any part of the Farm land to private parties or society.
He would also be highlighting the problem likely to be caused if the trend is not stop at once to the Chief Minister, he said.
It may be mentioned here when the office of- the State Mechanized Farm was established under Agriculture Deptt in 1965-66 the total land area of the Farm was 561 acres.
Out of this 28.5 acres of land have been utilized for construction of office buildings and roads.
Besides this from 325 acres of cultivable land the Farm had earlier some portions have also been allotted to Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Earlier in the morning, MoS Agriculture Ranjit accompanied by Director of Agriculture Deptt Dr S Amu Singh, Additional Director and others concerned officials have gone to the various offices of the Department at Mantripukhri including Manipur Agro Industries Corporation, Cotton Development office, Soil Testing Laboratory, State Seed Testing Laboratory, Seed Germinator, Growth Machine and the Cold Storage.
