Imphal, October 13 2014:
Under the banner of All Manipur Government Aided School Employees Co-ordinating Committee (AMGASEC), around 1000 teachers of Government aided schools today took out a rally demanding filling up of vacant posts and implementation of the 6th Pay Commission.
Although, the teachers tried to march towards the CM's bungalow after they started their rally from Chingmeirong and passed through Thangmeiband and Khoyathong, they were blocked by police near PWD complex on Kanglapat road.
Later, a few selected teacher representatives were taken to the CM's bungalow by the police to enable them to highlight their grievences before the Chief Minister.
However, they could not meet the Chief Minister as he had gone to Hiyanglam A/C to attend an election rally.
AMGASEC State Co-Ordinator Kameng Koireng said that the State currently has 608 Government aided schools.
He added that around 300 posts are vacant in these schools after many Government approved teachers had retired in the past couple of years.
Kameng Koireng said that they have not received the 6th Pay Commission salary nor other allowances from the Government all these years.
