Imphal, October 13 2014:
The recent government initiative for rationalisation of teachers is to benefit the thousands of teachers and students of the government educational institutions, said a spokesman of Education Department, Government of Manipur.
The measures for re-deployment of posts taken up by the department is in accordance with the cabinet decision, with which superfluous teaching staff from schools having more teachers have been moved to schools having less number of teachers.
Clarifying on the accusation of COTA that there are discrepancies in the redeployment/reallocation of post as well as in the mass transfer order issued by education department, the spokesman said the allegation is due to the lack of knowledge on the part of COTA.
Saying that 'post creation is done only to indicate the post vacancies, he made it straight that the posts created are not meant for specific individuals.
When a teacher is promoted to higher post, or transferred to another place or retired; he or she will not bring away the post, the spokesman reasoned.
When the post of teacher is moved from school with surplus staff to another school, it is not necessary that the same person will also go to the school.
Teachers are mandatory to go to other schools, if they are transferred from schools with surplus staff to schools which require the same.
Otherwise, the teachers would not get their salaries as they cannot be entered under AMGEL.
Denying any alteration of the rationalisation orders from the website of education department, he said the website of the department www.manipureducation.gov.in was down, as its users exceeded the monthly limit.
He admitted that the rationalisation process is not 100 percent correct, but it is necessary to take up the process in view of the schools which are in dire need of teachers.
The steps for Rationalisation would facilitate the schools located in far off places of the hills and valley, claimed the spokesman, while appealing for support to the department's endeavour.
