Imphal, October 13 2014:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) president N Sovakiran on Monday took a jibe at Congress Party which he said could be completely wiped out from the state politics by next Manipur assembly election 2017 .
Addressing a campaign rally for party candidate M Amutombi, who is contesting the upcoming by-poll to Hiyanglam, at Thongjao Leirak Achouba Bamon Mandop, Sovakiran also regretted that the people still hardly believe the MPP.
But he hoped that it was a matter of time to restore the trust and confidence of people.
He alleged that the Congress has been rejected by people since major scandals involving high level public officials have shaken the party politicians.
He appealed to the Hiyanglam electorate to teach a lesson to the highly corrupt Congress in this time of the by-poll to be held on October 17 .
Reacting to yesterday's road show campaign organised by Manipur BJP in Hiyanglam, Sovakiran said though there are many film stars-turned- politicians in India, the saffron party is wrongly using Manipuri film stars and singers in election campaigns here.
He appealed to all political parties in the state not to use the film stars and singers inappropriately to attract votes in future.
The rally was also addressed by several MPP leaders including party nominee M Amutombi.
