Before wrapping up his two visit to the State, the GOC interacted with Sector as well as Battalion commanders posted in the border town and along the international border in Chandel district, said AR spokesman Col CM Pant.
A press release issued by the PRO of IG AR (S) conveyed that on his two day tour of Manipur, the GOC accompanied by IG AR (S) and BGS visited the troops deployed in forward areas.

He thereafter visited the troops the troops deployed in remote areas of Chandel district, informed the PRO.
The Assam Rifles which has been guarding the long porous border with Myanmar in Chandel district has already mounted sharp vigil to meet any contingency in the wake of the Myanmar crisis.
The Manipur Rifles and the State Police have also intensified their vigil at the border town.
More than ten thousand pro-democracy activists of the neighbouring country fled their country following the massacre of a large number of people on August 18, 1988 in a pro-democracy movement which is popularly known as "8888 Uprising".
The border town of Moreh was one of the major escape routes for the activists who were struggling for restoration of democracy in their country.
Some of them have been putting up in Manipur under the sponsorship of the Union Govt after the Myanmarese immigrants were given refugee status.
The GOC called on Governor Dr SS Sidhu yesterday and apprised the latter of the prevailing security scenario and the progress on the Suspension of Operation agreement with some UG groups.
