Speaking to media persons who accompanied the inspection tour, Ngamthang Haokip stated that the exercise of identifying and inspecting vulnerable sections of different river banks together with local MLAs was nearing completion.
The inspection tour may be extended for more days, if the need arises.
Materials required for strengthening and reinforcing vulnerable river banks before the monsoon season have been procured and the department has made all preparations to face any eventuality in the event of floods.
In the past few years, many river banks have caved in or breached leading to floods in the adjoining areas.
