The State Police Department hss submitted its detailed investigation report regarding the death of a newly married housewife at Khurai Thangjam Leirak before the Manipur Human Rights Commission.
On September 11, 2004, one Bhulchand Meitei of Laiphim Khunou lodged a complaint with the OC Porompat PS stating that on the same day around 2.30 pm his sister L Aruni Devi was found hung to death at the house of her husband namely Oinam Gyanendro Singh in a very suspicious manner.
The victim L Aruni Devi was subjected to torture for 3/4 months by her husband, the report said adding that a regular FIR case was subsequently registered on the matter u/s 398 A IPC.
During the course of investigation, the Investigation Officer examined the complaint and he fully corroborated with his complaint, the police report dated December 21 said.
Gyanendra Singh, husband of the deceased was arrested and subsequently remanded to police custody and later to judicial custody by the court.
Gyanendro however denied the charges of offence levelled against him.
After conducting post mortem her body was handed over to the family members.
The IO seized ligature material and five bottles, one each containing sample of blood, temple of stomach, sample of liver, kidney and preservative use on production by the doctor, who conducted the PM at RIMS morgue.
The TO also seized one video recording cassette used in the PM examination, it said adding that the seized items would be sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Kolkata for chemical analysis and expert opinion, it also said.
