Imphal, December 23:
A departmental inquiry will be instituted to probe and officials in the State Youth Affairs and Sports Department who are allegedly using fake certificates to extend their serviceable age limit will be identified, YAS Minister Konthoujam Govindas told the House today in response to a call attention motion raised by Opposition MLA N Bihari.
The MLA drew the attention of the Minister to a news report published on December 20 accusing the State Government of keeping quiet despite knowing that many YAS officials have extended their service with the help of fake certificates.
The MLA demanded to know why the service of DSO M Ibohal who was supposed to retire on February 29 has been extended by cancelling the February 9 order for his retirement.
He further alleged that one DSO of YAS too had been promoted as Additional Director after manipulating his serviceable age limit.
Despite the.fact that Registrar of Gauhati University verified that the matriculation certificate possessed by former Joint Director of'YAS Aleng S Shimrah was fake in a letter October 31 last, why he should be given voluntary retirement, the ML A questioned the Minister.
If the said officer could enjoy the benefit of pension, why not the same benefit be extended to other staff of the Department, a furious Bihari demanded to know.
Under the assail of the MLA, the Minister admitted that Aleng S Shimrah has been given voluntary retirement.
However, as to the allegation that his matriculation certificate was fake, the Minister asserted that another letter too had been written by Gauhati University verifying that his certificate was not fake.
