Replying to a star question raised by Opposition MLA Samuel Jendai at the closing day of the State Assembly winter session today, Works Minister Th Devendra informed the House that the Govt would conduct a probe and take up necessary actions if the charges of withdrawing 110 metric tonnes of Bitumen meant for repairing Khongshang-Tamenglong Road by a particular contractor without executing any work is true.
Minister Th Devendra further stated that a written statement had already been sent to the BRTF authorities for taking over the repairing work of the 39.50 km long Khongshang-Tamenglong.
However, the BRTF officials have failed to take up the work till today, he added.
On being asked when the repairing works of the Khongshang-Tamenglong road would begin, Minister Th Devendra answered that the works would begin as the soon as the State Govt gets an approval from the NEC.
He further informed that the maintenance of the said road is also being done by the State PWD with funds from the State Govt.Answering to a query from Z Mangaibou regarding developmental works taken up on the IT Road and Khongshang, Minister Devendra informed that a Departmental Project Report (DPR) for developing the two roads has been submitted to the NEC for its approval.
Stating that IT road is one of the oldest road in the State, Opposition MLA Mangaibou informed the House that the deplorable condition of the road had claimed the lives four persons while seriously injuring 14 others in an accident a few months back.
Devendra further informed that the DPR for the development of IT road had been made by allotting Rs 44.19 crores for Kangpokpi-Tamei road and another Rs 12.65 crores for Tamenglong-Tamei road.
Joining in the discussion, Opposition MLA L Ibomcha stated that NH 150 has been completely neglected by the State Govt and has become almost impossible for the vehicles to pass through and further urged Works Minister Devendra to join him in inspecting the road if he has any doubt about the charges.
Replying to the charges levelled against the Govt, Minister Devendra said that the development of the Churachandpur- Tipaimukh road stretch was handed over to the State Govt by the BRO in 1993 but was again returned back to the BRO authorities in April 25 2001.Informing that the road stretch between Churarchandpur and Yaingangpokpi is under the State Govt, Devendra said that BRO authorities have not been able to take up developmental works on the road stretch between Churachandpur and Tipaimukh due to security reasons.
He however said that BRO authorities will be taking up developmental works on a 20 Kms road stretch from Churachandpur towards Tipaimukh within a short period.
