Describing the ban on learning and teaching of Hindi and NCC activities at educational institutions as not only anti-national but illegal, the Imphal West and Bishnupur District Magistrates have warned that legal action would be taken up against organizations or person found engaged in illegal and anti-national activities.
Separate orders were issued by the District Magistrates today on the Hindi teaching/learning ban call while seriously explaining that such ban also tantamount to forfeiture of educational rights and job opportunities of students and youths of the State.
Referring to the ban imposed on Hindi by All Manipur Students� union, Manipuri Students� Federation and Democratic Students� Alliance of Manipur, the DMs in their orders reminded that learning Hindi is part of the syllabus prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and also by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.
Learning Hindi is important as it is the national language and it provides job opportunities for the students and youths of Manipur all over the country, the orders maintained.
Meanwhile, vehicular movement of the National Highway 53 connecting Imphal and Jiribam have also been brought to an abrupt halt since last night after the occurrence of two landslide at Nungdolan and near Makuthong.
In another incident, III IRB and police personnel posted at Pallel were pressed in the Thamnapokpi area along the Imphal- Moreh road this afternoon after receiving reports that some unidentified men were trying threatening and looting vehicles in the area.
