Imphal, September 22:
Continuing with the agitation against the imposition of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in the State, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has today asked all to participate in a mass sit-in-protest on September 24.Announcing this, the Lup in a statement urged all to come out and participate in the protest to unitedly show that the people of Manipur will not retreat until and unless the Act is revoked entirely from the State.
On the proposal to constitute a Unified Command structure with the Chief Minister as the chairman, the Lup said that this is nothing but another means to give more power to the security personnel to trample upon the rights of the Manipuri people.
Rapping the CM for agreeing to such a proposal, the Lup said that the stand of the Chief Minister now more than demonstrates that he does not have the interest of the people at heart but is only ready to dance to the tunes of Delhi.
The proposal to form a Unified Command structure was struck down during the time of Nipamacha, recalled the Lup and questioned under what circumstances O Ibobi agreed to such a proposal.
"History will never forgive Ibobi," for this sacrilege, said the Lup.
The statement further said that women folk of Keishamthong staged a sit-in-protest today against the AFSPA while a similar protest was also held at Kwakta Sanathong from 11.30 am till 3 pm.
