Joint Committee of Medical Department Employees Association (MDEA), Family Welfare Dept Employees Association and Manipur Health Service Officers Association (MHSOA) have threatened to close down all OPDs and discharge patients from all hospitals from November 9 onwards if the State Govt does not meet the demands of the employees immediately.
Speaking at a press conference at JN Hospital today, gen secy of Manipur Health Service Officer's Association Dr O Mahen-dra lamented that repeated appeals of the employees to the Govt to fulfil their demands have all fallen on deaf ears and added that the employees will not retreat until and unless their demands are met.
He also said that the employees will begin cease work from November 16 if the State Govt does not take up any concrete measures for fulfilling their demands even after their first phase of agitation which begins from Nov 9.It may be noted here that demands of the employees include immediate improvement of all the essential and infrastructural health care facilities i all the health centres in the State with special preferences to JN Hospital, Porompat and Dist Hospital Churachnadpur, protection and preservation of various land and buildings under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, non-practising allowance and all permissible allowances (including patient care/nursing allowance/other admissible allowances) be given to the employees immediately and promotion to various categories of vacant posts for all sections of employees working under the Health and Family Welfare Dept.
