AR men hurt in Chandel gunfight

Three personnel of 24 Assam Rifles were said to have sustained injuries in a gunfight with cadres of PLA, the armed wing of the proscribed RPF which took place yesterday around 7pm near Satang village under Tengnoupal PS in Chandel district.
According to a reliable source, the incident occurred when the AR troops were trailing the PLA cadres on getting information that a villager of Lamlong Khunou under Tengnoupal PS was abducted by the PLA cadres.
When contacted, the PRO of Assam Rifles refuted the injury report and added that two jawans suffered superficial injuries.
The villager was reportedly released before reaching the spot where the encounter took place.
The three AR personnel suffered injuries after explosion of an IED followed by gunshot.
However, the identities of the injured AR personnel could not be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) claimed an attack on 24 Assam Rifles troops near Sita and Satang Maring villages in Chandel district yesterday around 6.15 pm by a team of the PLA Tactical Command.
The RPF/PLA suspected that the AR troops might have suffered some casualties, according to a statement of the chief of publicity department of the outlawed outfit, Taohangsu Huiremcha.
Based on interception of communication of the AR, and information received by the outfit, several AR personnel are also believed to have sustained grievous injuries in the attack, the RPF statement claimed.
The statement also said that its armies under the Tactical Command are ready to strike security forces in the future.
