Imphal, November 06 2023:
Urging authority concerned to complete construction of roads under PMGSY in Phungyar area in Ukhrul district, Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) (Southern Tangkhul Students' Union) has threatened to launch intense form of agitation if the roads are not completed before Christmas.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, TAKL president Yarchuiso Kashung said that the 15.25 km long road from L029 to Nongdam and the 20 km stretch from L032-Sikibung to Louphong which are being constructed under phase 11 of PMGSY have not been completed even though the authority concerned has put up signboard claiming completion.
He informed that though some portions of the road stretch have been completed, the said works lack quality control as is evident from the blacktopped roads developing cracks.
Moreover, out of 22 culvert construction incorporated for the road project from Yaingangpokpi to Chadong, not a single one has been constructed.
Yarchuiso Kashung also appealed to the RD and PR minister Y Khemchand to intervene and initiate action against all officials, contractors and engineer concerned for misleading the people.
