Theatre workshop / book review conducted

Moirang College Internal Quality Assurance Cell (1QAC) and Students' Theatre Circle conducted one day theatre workshop cum book review at College's seminar hall on Monday.
As per a release, a play based on supreme sacrifice of a Muslim royal photographer 'Dasu Sardar' authored by the Moirang College principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh (Shamu) was released and reviewed during the workshop organised to motivate and provide a platform to students who intend to choose theatre as their hobby or profession other than the degrees or diplomas in the general mainstream education as envisaged under the NEP 2020.The release also mentioned that programme was attended by Moirang College former faculty & alumni member Y Modhu Singh as chief guest, IQAC coordinator Dr Ph Raju Singh as president and nodal officer administration N Joy Singh as guest of honour.
Department of Manipur head Dr Moirangthem Rajesh Singh reviewed the book, while theatre personality Loitongbam Brajamuhon Singh was present as resource person.
It also stated that 'Dasu Sardar' is a book on the life of a Muslim photographer who came to Manipur from Uttar Pradesh and served in the royal court of Manipuri kings during 1880s.He later married a Meitei-Pangal girl from Thoubal Moijing and became a Meitei-Pangal officer in the royal court.
He was appointed dewan (account officer) in the court of Maharaj Surchandra and allowed to stay at a gifted land called Mana Ingkhol near Minuthong Hatta.
Dasu Sardar took a key role in protecting the life of Yuvraj Bir Tikendrajit Singh during the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 .
He was killed on March 24, 1891 on the charge of acting as a Secret informer of Tikendrajit.
His two daughters were also set to fire and killed while his wife escaped wounded, it noted.
