Public meeting / blessing ceremony held

A public meeting cum blessing ceremony for outer MP intending candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2024, Timothy Zimik was held at Sinakeithei village ground today.
To mark the opening of the blessing ceremony, Village Chairman Ulysis Rungsung presented Tangkhul traditional shawl to Timothy Zimik followed by the blessing ceremony by Pastor Sinakeithei, Rev Ramyothing Phungshok in the presence of village leaders and people from Tamenglong and Noney districts.
Addressing the gathering, Timothy Zimik said that his objective of joining electoral politics is based on the ideology "Be the change and make a difference in the lives of our people" .

He said that after retirement from the post of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Ministry of Finance (Revenue) Govt of India, he was driven by the idea to serve his people and bring transparency in governance so as to safeguard the rights of the people constitutionally.
'I will fight and raise the issues of tribal land, mineral rights, legitimate claim of the hill people for an equitable share of resources of the State, quality education, youth employment', he assured.
He also said that he will strive for more economic activities in the region by taking up eco-tourism, agroforestry, farming etc. Timothy Zimik further appealed to the people to provide him the opportunity to raise the pending Naga issue at the Parliament for a speedy settlement.
Speaking at the occasion, NPF president, Sinakeithei Unit, Alexander Muivah expressed words of encouragement to the intending candidate and appealed to the villagers to extend full support to Timothy.
The blessings ceremony programme witnessed a myriad display of musical shows from Tangkhul artistes, women folk and student community.
It may be noted that Sinakeithei village is about 70 kilometres away from Ukhrul town inhabited by the Tangkhul community having more than 400 households.
