Chandel, July 16 2021:
The Anal Lenruwl Tangpi, Anal Naga Students Union, GHQ, Chandel, appealed to the Chief Minister of Manipur to intervene in the ongoing issue of DFO, Chandel District and deliver justice to the people.
The apex Anal students' organisation have also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, N Biren Singh through the Deputy Commissioner Chandel, M Rajkumar, IAS seeking justice over the matter, said a statement of ALT.
The ALT stated that one, Sumpi Pekham, Fishery Inspector in-charge CEO/FFDA, Chandel was given incharge/appointed as Fishery Officer, DFO by an order of the Governor, Manipur on March 8, 2021.But after taking charge of the office for less than one month, Sumpi Pekham was reinstated to her previous position and the new DFO for Chandel was deputed without any explanation.
The student organisation continued that Sumpi Pekham was eligible for the post of Fishery Officer as per recruitment rules according to the Court verdict dated, July 6, 2021, "Sumpi Pekham vs the State of Manipur".
ALT also raised questions as to why Sumpi Pekham was demoted after she was elevated for a brief period of time.
She was the senior most officer among her colleagues in the Fishery Department, Chandel and she deserved to be promoted to a higher rank according to her experience and service record.
She was Fishery Inspector in-charge CEO/FFDA, Chandel for a very long time and deserved to be promoted instead of deputing another DFO to Chandel.
ALT further alleged that the 'Ethics' was completely sidelined by the concerned officers in the Directorate of Fishery Department, Government of Manipur in this matter while adding that such incidents would de-motivate the government employees in the years to come.
