House-to-house Covid testing begins at Kpi, active cases stand at 180

In view of the rising COVID-19 positive cases in Kangpokpi Town and as directed by the Health Department, House-to-house Covid testing was launched today in Kangpokpi.
The House-to-house testing began at Ward No 9 Kangpokpi town by a medical team in collaboration with COVID Task Force and Kangpokpi Police.
Altogether, 73 persons from 64 households were tested by the medical team led by Dr Iquebal under the supervision of Dr Paotinlal Haokip, MS District Hospital Kangpokpi.
No confirmed COVID-19 positive cases reported while nine households refused to get tested.
House-to-house testing was also conducted at Keithelmanbi Ward No 6 under the supervision of Dr Pilhing, MO PHC Kalapahar, where out of total 54 persons tested, 2 persons were found positive.
CTF Keithelmanbi sealed their residence.
Meanwhile, Kangpokpi witnessed a sudden surge of COVID-19 infection while fatality was also reported frequently in the district.
With 21 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of active cases in the district stands at 180 while the fatality climbed to 47 following the death of a 40 years old woman from Kangpokpi at RIMS Hospital, Imphal as per official COVID-19 daily situation report by DSO Kangpokpi.
Besides, 9 Government employees staying at DCs office complex quarters were found positive yesterday while another 3 from the same quarters were tested positive today.
Following the sudden surge of infection in the town and as per the directive of the State Government, the local bodies of Kangpokpi town under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee cancelled its previous notification of partially lifting the prolonged lockdown considering the request of shopkeepers and decided to reimpose lockdown in the town effective from July 18.According to the public notification issued by L Kipgen, chairman Kangpokpi Town Committee, the whole market would be in lockdown again until further notice while a total curfew would be imposed in the town including shops and hotels in all the wards of Kangpokpi town.
However, essential activities related to vaccination, COVID testing, medical services, air travel and agricultural activities would be allowed.
