Imphal, February 26 2015:
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has castigated the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) for repeating several questions originally set and asked by the UPSC.
Speaking to media persons at their Keishampat office today, DESAM president M Angamba said that several questions already asked by UPSC were not only repeated by MPSC without any modification but wrong answer options were also copied together with the options.
The examination was conducted for selecting lecturers.
Out of 40 questions which were taken out in bulk by UPSC from the Physical Geology question paper of the University of Wyoming, MPSC copied 20 questions and the same questions were put to candidates who appeared in the February 22 exam.
Amidst allegations that the MPSC does not comply with the rules and regulations set by the National Council of Teachers' Education (NCTE), mass copying of 20 questions from website reflects non-chalant attitude of both the question setter and the moderator, Angamba remarked.
Again, allowing candidates who have not completed BEd course to appear the exam for recruitment of 217 Lecturers was in contravention of NCTE rule and regulations is unacceptable.
There is a strong suspicion that the State Government has been scheming to recruit teachers not on merit basis but through fraudulent means, he alleged.
Question Nos 15, 37 and 41 of the exam held for recruitment of 217 lecturers either have the same answer options or erroneous or no option was given at all.
Answer options given against question No 121 were repeated in question no 122 which is a clear indication of the utter negligence on the part of the question setter as well as the moderator.
He then appealed to the State Government to take up befitting action against the question setter and the moderator according to law.
He further demanded a thorough enquiry into the matter by an independent body.
