Imphal, February 20 2011:
The proscribed UNLF has accused New Delhi of draining resources of Manipur.
For this, the Government ought to compensate the people of Manipur, the outfit asserted in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
The outfit categorically stated that it would be impossible to exchange the sovereignty of Manipur with the money released by New Delhi in the name of welfare schemes and development projects.
It is only natural for the Government of India to be fuming when the money they released for suppression of the people of Manipur is used by the UNLF against them for liberation of Manipur.
The outfit alleged that larger part of the fund sanctioned by New Delhi for nominal development of the state was exhausted in grooming their proxies in the form of Ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats.
Till date, Govt of India has not created any economic condition under which the larger impoverished population of Manipur can live a secure and dignified life.
The UNLF stated that it did not come as a surprise when the National Investigative Agency (NIA) made false charges such as rebellion against India, attempt to disturb India's integrity etc against 19 individuals including the outfit's Chairman with an ulterior motive to imprison the arrested individuals for good.
On the other hand, it is only logical for the UNLF to collect money necessary for the liberation movement from the alien rulers and the people.
Money thus collected is also used in many welfare programmes for the poorer section of the society.
The outfit's National Economic Policy has benefits many farmers as well as many bread-winning women through micro credit system, it claimed.
Saying that the outfit's liberation movement has acquired a new characteristics, the outfit noted that the recent mass movement launched with slogans like "Bring out Sana Yaima", "Sana Yaima is innocent", "We want plebiscite", "Long live UNLF" etc were strong messages for freedom.
It went on to say that UNLF/MPA would carry on the liberation movement until the lost sovereignty of Manipur is restored.
"Our policy is to defeat India using Indian money", it added.
