Pena workshop

A seven day workshop on Pena a traditional musical instrument of Manipur has commenced today at the office premise of Rhythms of Manipur at Sagolband Thangjam Leirak, Imphal.
The workshop is being organised by the Rhythms of Manipur with an aim to preserve the traditional music of the state.
Renowned Pena artiste Padmashree Khangembam Mangi inaugurated the workshop.
Musicians of Rhythms of Manipur and other individuals who love music are participating in the workshop in which Khengmbam Mangi will teach them the art of using Pena.
A musical composition based on Pena will also be composed and present on the concluding day.
It may be mentioned that the Rhythms of Manipur had successfully produced a musical composition based on Pena named 'Heirangkhoinida' in 1994-95 with the help of Ministry of Culture.
