Anand urges to conserve traditional values

Every Manipuris should uphold the traditional culture, art forms and other beliefs and customs of the state to live with dignity among the various community in the world, said MLA RK Anand while participating the Photo Exhibition cum Thang-Ta Demonstration organised by the Yelhou Inat Sindam Lup, Manipur as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Huyel Langlon (Satjal) Training at MDU hall, Yaiskul Police Lane, Imphal today.
Speaking as chief guest in the occasion, RK Anand said that the negligence in preserving the traditional identity, national character, culture and civilization has caused serious disharmony in the state.
The honour receiving by the Manipuris today is the credit of the brave forefathers.
Thang-Ta was included in the syllabus of some schools including CC Higher Secondary School in the past.
Unfortunately the syllabus was dropped out from the syllabus.
Japan, China and Korea are preserving their traditional martial arts by including in the school syllabus.
Likewise, the state government should take up certain initiatives to preserve the traditional martial art forms of the state, Anand said.
RK Rajendra, former member, Manipur Human Rights Commission, Y Khemchand, president, All Manipur Taekwondo Assocation, Advocate P Tomcha, SE N Tomba, PWD and Th Gojendro, working president, All Manipur Private School Welfare Association also attended the function as presidium member.
In a speech, Y Khemchand, president All Manipur Taekwondo Association said that Taekwondo is a traditional martial art form of Korea.
The art form has been wide known today due to the relentless effort of their government to promote the art form.
Likewise, government of Manipur and every people of the state should strive to promote the Thang-Ta in the international level.
