PNM conducts its general conference

Poumai Naotoumai Me (PNM) conducted its 6th general conference cum cultural programme at Ngari Lishang village of Senapati district from Feb 9 to 12 .
Chief Secretary DS Poonia and Senapati DC Nidhi Kesarwani and Social Worker Louniirii graced the inaugural function as chief guest, guest of honour and presiding officer respectively.
P Delilah Pao, president of the Poumai Naotumai Me said that PNM was established in the year 1987 when the people of the region experienced untold hardship as a consequence of 'Operation Bluebird' .
She further said that most of the Poumai villages are located in remotest areas of the State and appealed the Government to take extra responsibility in bringing development.
DS Poonia while speaking in the function congratulated the organiser and mentioned that the receptions accorded to him was marvellous and described the women of the area are warm, pure and so truthful.
With regard to the request of the PNM, for financial assistance for an office building and the road construction of Ngari Lishang to Thiwa village, he assured that it would be looked into it and extend timely help.
Nidhi Kesarwani asked the Poumai women to make use of the various schemes the Government.
The DC also promised that she would do her utmost to ensure that the deserving women get their share.
The three days programme concluded after witnessing a series of events which include cultural dance, folk song, folk tale, talent show and Mrs Poumai Contest.
Mrs Christina of Saranamai village, walked away with prestigious Mrs Poumai title.
Phaibung Khullen won the folk dance competition.
The prize for the folk song competition went goes to Liyai village.
In the talent show, the first prize went to Vafiimai village.
Khabung Karong won the first prize in the folk tale competition.
