Imphal, June 19 2016:
A joint review committee of the JAC of Churachandpur and Outer Manipur Tribal Forum as well as stakeholders will be conducted very soon to ascertain the further course of agitation against the three 'anti-tribal' Bills passed by the State Assembly last year, president of United Naga Council (UNC) Gaidon Kamei said during an interaction with media persons at the sidelines of the first felicitation programme held for Kharam students at Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Chingmeirong, Imphal, today.
The UNC president said with the ten days economic blockade and suspension of all National projects in the State coming to an end tonight, all tribal civil society organizations will form a review committee and a final decision will be taken concerning the further course of agitation against the three Bills.
"It is well established that all the tribal people are against the three Bills passed by the State Government last year," Gaidon said.
Any form of policy which are against the interest of the tribal people will be discussed at the right forum, he added.
The further course of agitation will also depend on the outcome of the study conducted by legal experts on the two Bills which have been stayed by the Union Government, he added.
The Naga people are optimistic that the age old Indo-Naga Peace talk will bear positive results in the larger interest of the Naga people, he said.
"Nagas have a unique history and so the solution for the Indo-Naga Peace talk should be unique," Gaidon said.
When asked of the separate homeland demands for the ethnic Kuki communities amid the demand for a separate Naga State, he said that the UNC would not comment on any political aspiration of different ethnic communities settled in Manipur.
