After Imphal was included in the list of cities selected by the Union Urban Development Ministry for development as Smart Cities, the State Government has initiated due processes to establish a company.
This is after the Union Urban Development Ministry sent a missive to the State Government to establish such a company.
Subsequently, the State Government has initiated due process to establish a company under the Company Act, informed an official source.
The State Government has already hired a Chartered Accountant towards this end.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Urban Development Ministry has not only approved but also sanctioned first phase fund for taking up a water supply project within Imphal Municipal Corporation under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 50.19 crore and over Rs nine crore has been sanctioned in the first phase.
The project would be implemented by PHED.
MAHUD has issued necessary sanction for handing over the first phase fund to PHED, added the source.
