4000 RAT kits seized at CCpur

The Churachandpur police today seized 4000 unauthorized RAT test kits for Covid-19 that were transported in a make-do ambulance at about 2 pm from Churachandpur's Hqtrs Veng.
It is learnt that the local police intercepted a Maruti van with an ambulance sticker on suspicion of carrying unauthorized RAt (Rapid Antigen Test Kits) in front of Chrachandpur College.
The Maruti Van bearing registration no AS01 AR 0835 had its passenger seats intact though having an ambulance sticker pasted both on the front and back.
A video of the interior released to the press also bore no resemblance of an ambulance.
The police team upon questioning the two occupants identified as Okram Uday Singh @ Devson (26) s/o (L) O Inao of Thoubal and Sagolsem Umesh (38) s/o Sagolsem Manisana of Imphal West discovered that they had just unloaded 4 boxes of Covid-19 test kits somewhere at HQ Veng.

Acting on the information, police recovered the consignment from the residence of one Thangmuonsang (35) s/o Kampu of HQ Veng, Churachandpur.
The 4 boxes reportedly contain test kits that were found to be STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag manufactured by SD BIOSENSER HEALTHCARE PVT LTD, Haryana.
Each of the 4 carton boxes further contained 40 small boxes.
There are 25 test kits in each of the small boxes, taking the total number of test kits seized to 4000 .
As the apprehended individuals could not produce any documents or authorization letter from Medical Directorate or any other authority, the district police alerted the DC and CMO Churachandpur and as such, the matter is under investigation, said a source.
The test kits were nevertheless seized under 102 CrPC.
As the Van bore no resemblance or facilities of an 'ambulance' the driver was warned not to transport anything that is illegal or disguise as Ambulance without having any permit or facilities.
The police then made him remove the 'ambulance' stickers from his vehicle and strictly warned him to not repeat it.
A team of Churachandpur police led its OC Insp N Thangzamuan under the supervision of Addl SP (Ops) and SP CCP meanwhile raided two places at Mandop Leikai yesterday and seized liquor worth about Rs 3 lakh.
The raids were conducted at the house one Laishram Ranjan (32) of Mandop Leikai, and Nongthombam Basanta (46) of Mandop Leikai based on the input the police received.
The police seized 96 Kingfisher Can Beer, 240 Quarter bottles of Mcdowell Rum, 144 Quarter bottles of Mc Whiskey, 48 Half bottles Romanov Vodka, 72 Half bottle Old Monk and 24 Half bottle Mc Whiskey; and, 80 litres of DIC liquor, 288 Kingfisher Can Beer, 96 Turborg Can Beer, 288 Quarter bottle Old Monk rum, 144 Half bottle Old Monk rum, 336 Quarter bottle Mc Whisky and 72 Half bottle Mc Rum from the duo.
The seized liquor was later disposed at Mata Disposal site in the presence of media persons.
