Ears of MLAs, DCs sought

A team of Action 15 Manipur today submitted a 15-point charter of demands to some MLAs and Deputy Commissioners of Thoubal, Bishnupur and Ukhrul districts as part of their campaign for the crucial world summits to be held in New York and Paris later this year.
Speaking to reporters, Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR) convenor Keisam Pradipkumar said that as part of the official launch of 'Action 15' in 50 different countries and 15 States of India covering around 150 districts, MACR and Human Rights Alert jointly submitted a 15-point charter of demands to different MLAs and DCs of three districts today.
He said that during their meetings with MLAs and DCs they discussed the issues of poverty, equality and climate change.
End hunger and poverty, protect people and planet, end climate change, end discrimination based on caste, gender, religion and age, school and education for all, healthcare for all, end preventable death of newborns, children and mother, end violence and promote peace and tolerance, stop child labour, equal rights for boys and girls, men and women, clean water and toilet, human rights for one and all, safe world for women and girls, participation of children and youth in decision making and equal access to resources for sustained development are the points mentioned in their charter of demands, he added.
Keisam Pradipkumar said that they have got appointments with Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai tomorrow.
They would discuss the points mentioned in their charter of demands with the two leaders after submitting it to them, he added.
Likewise a team of Action 15 Delhi would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, he said.
