Maj Gen PN Rao, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division conveyed best wishes to all ranks of serving and retired Army personnel, civilians and their families on the occasion of Army Day on Jan 15 .
According to a statement issued by the PRO (Defence), Imphal, Army day is celebrated on Jan 15 every year to commemorate the historical achievement of Indian Army when Field Marshal KM Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army after independence on Jan 15, 1949 .
On the historical day, the General Officer Commanding recalled the outstanding achievements and commitment of the Indian Army deployed in difficult parts of the country for the cause of peace and harmony.
He also expressed his happiness and satisfaction over the considerable contribution of troops of Red Shield Division in bringing about peace and infrastructural development in Manipur with utmost sincerity and sacrifices.
The General on this historical day also remembered the brave soldiers of Indian Army who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and expressed his gratitude.
