Imphal, July 14 2011:
Due to the increase in petroleum products and other essential items fertilizer dealers have demanded an increase in the transportation charge.
A dealer registered under the Authorise Fertilizer Dealers, on condition of anonymity disclosed to Hueiyen Lanpao that the transportation charge given by the government is not in tune with the increase in price of petroleum products and other essential items.
So the transportation charge needs to be revised.
This has been made known to the concerned Minister and top officials of the department.
But this does not necessarily mean that the price of fertilizers will be increased.
The price will be fixed by the government.
Previously dealers of the state didn't have any problem in procurement of fertilizers from the factory situated in Kamrup.
This in turn leads to spending of additional cash on the part of the truckers.
He further said that the state government is not taking up any necessary measure to fulfill the demands of the state's farmers.
