The number of beds of Churachandpur district hospital would be raised to 300 from the existing 100 and the FHW/ANM training school would be upgraded to the status of a general nursing college.
This was stated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing at the 11th capping, lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of the 11th batch students of Female Health Workers Training School, Churachandpur.
He stated that the Government has been working to augment Churachandpur district hospital by increasing the number of beds from 100 to 300 in view of the growing number of patients coming to the hospital.
Talking about the shortfalls and shortages of FHW/ANM training centre, Phungzathang assured to replace the existing compound fence of the training centre with pucca fence apart from construction adequate numbers of toilets and bathrooms.
Efforts are also on to upgrade the training centre to the level of general nursing school after constructing a new building in place of the existing one.
He further assured that solar power facility would be made available at the training centre within a month.
He also appealed to all doctors and nurses to serve patients with love and care.
The training school has so far produced 370 female health workers.
ADC Churachandpur Executive Member S Kamsuanlun, Churachandpur DC PK Jha and CMO Churachandpur Dr Thangchinkhup Guite were also present at the capping ceremony.
