AMMIK urges

Apunba Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup (AMMIK) has urged all concerned not to call bandh during 1st Manipur Matam Ishei Festival to be held on June 12 and 13. Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, AMMIK Magazine Editor Narendra Ningomba said that the festival would be held at Lamyanba Shanglen wherein popular and aspiring singers, yesteryears' singers and journalists would take part.
Urging the general public to participate in the festival, Narendra Ningomba requested the popular singers not to accept concert invitations for these two days to ensure participation in the festival.
The first ever festival is being organised with an aim to promote and preserve the Manipuri genre of modern music, he added.
Along with young singers and journalists, popular singers of yesteryears, Dr Laishram Birendra- kumar, Aribam Shyam, Asem Bimola, Sagolsem Indra-kumar, Chongtham Kamala, Phurailatpam Iboyaima, Chongtham Sanatombi, Arambam Jamuna, Yangnu Golmei and Yensenbam Bilashini would present their popular numbers on the first day, he added.
