Rajya Sabha MP W Angou has flayed the present PR regime saying it has not taken up specific measures to ease the acute financial crisis gripping the State.
Addressing a press conference at his official residence today, Angou charged that the current Government has failed to pursue the centrally sponsored horticulture schemes for 2001-2002 and added that Manipur has been excluded from the list of the North East States receiving 12 horticulture schemes.
Stating that Rs 60.08 lakhs have already been deposited to the CPWD for construction of infrastructure of the Jiribam FCI godown, he charged that no work has been taken up till date.
Pointing out that the State's share of the rural development package for the year 2001-2002 for the NE was comparatively very small, the MP said that it resulted due to the poor performance of the PR Government.
In this package, the States share is only Rs 828.74 lakhs whereas Tripura received Rs 3219.80, Arunachal Pradesh Rs 2993.92, Assam Rs 4294.78, Meghalaya Rs 1508.99, Nagaland Rs 2373.39 and Sikkim Rs 751.37.Maintaining the State has been facing acute financial crunch, Angou said that he would put forward before the House for initiating a special financial package fur meeting the crunch.
He would also urge for release of special funds by the RBI through the Manipur State Cooperative bank in order to uplift the farmer, he said.
