Imphal, June 22 2015 :
Regardless of whether the party is the single largest party or not in Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong and Chandel, NPF-led alliances would form councils in the four ADCs.
Talking with The Sangai Express today, NPF Manipur unit president Awangbow Newmai stated that they have already approached DCs concerned with a proposal to let them form councils in the four ADCs.
In line with the voters' mandate which clearly favoured non-Congress councils, NPF has chalked out a policy to form non-Congress councils in the four ADCs.
NPF has 17 Members in Ukhrul and they are being supported by three Independent Members.
In Senapati, four Independent Members have joined NPF taking the party's total tally in the district to 15.Negotiations are also on to forge an alliance with elected non-Congress Members, Awangbow said.
A coalition called the Democratic Alliance of Tamenglong ADC has been already formed between eight NPF Members and five BJP Members and the coalition has already staked its claim on forming the council in Tamenglong.
Although only five NPF candidates were elected in Chandel, four Independent Members and one Congress Member have joined the party taking the total tally to 10 .
Negotiations to form the Chandel ADC together with two BJP Members have been progressing, Awangbow informed.
Even though it has been two weeks since the election results were declared, the State Government is yet to initiate any process to publish the names of the elected Members in the State gazette.
The State Govt's reluctance to swear in the elected Members is a direct challenge to democracy, he added.
Election to the ADC was held on June 1 and the results were declared a few days later.
