Imphal, June 22 2015 :
The indefinite economic blockade called by ATSUM which has come into effect from this midnight has been deliberated at the meeting convened by CAF&PD Minister M Okendro this afternoon.
Top ranking officials of CAF&PD Department and representatives of transport organisations attended the meeting, informed an official source.
The meeting also deliberated on the current system of shipping in FCI rice from Assam and Dimapur with CRPF escorts.
Even though the meeting discussed on joint movement of oil tankers and rice carriers, the same proposal was rejected by transporters.

At present, oil tankers are moving on four days a week and rice carriers three days a week with CRPF escorts.
Collection of illegal taxes by UG groups on highways also figured at the meeting.
Okendro stated that he would go to Delhi in the next couple of days and urge the Union Home Ministry to take up necessary measures in order to neutralize the indefinite economic blockade.
Another agenda of the meeting was buying fuel in bulk by a large section of panic-stricken people.
