The election of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee which had been fixed on April 30 has been postponed indefinitely.
As per a written statement issued by Assistant Pradesh Returning Officer Bidyabati Sanjembam, the decision to postpone the election was taken in view of the upcoming Parliament session which will conclude on May 13.The Pradesh Election Authority's chairman Slyvas Keneippan had also informed that he will not be able to personally come to Imphal and participate in the election process due to the Parliament session.
The statement further informed that a new election notice would be issued informing all the candidates about the new election's date as well as the date of issuing the nomination forms.
Following the postponement of the election, all the candidates who had come to submit their forms today had to return without handing over the nomination papers.

A statement jointly signed by the Association vice president Ch Jailung and Union president K Humaliabou said it was a dream come true for the people of Kuilong area who have been wanting to see the completion of the road for the last 40 years.
Before Mangaibou, many MLAs of the Constituency had tried their best complete the work, but the dream of the people remained unfulfilled.
But today because of Mangaibou�s care and love for his people, the dream of the people have been realised, the joint statement said.
