Imphal, April 22:
The Vigilance Dept which was ordered to investigate the reasons for the failure of the Medical Dept to encash bills for Rs 4,01,10,960 before the expiry of the last fiscal has submitted its preliminary report to the Chief Secretary.
Disclosing this, a well placed source said that the preliminary report has nailed more Treasury Dept employees and action will be taken up against them too.
The Vigilance Dept was asked to probe the matter after the Medical Department submitted a report to the Chief Minister that the bills could not be encashed on time as employees of the Treasury Dept had demanded Rs 40,000 to pass the same.
The source further said that the Vigilance Dept has more or less confirmed the bribery slur and action is likely to be taken up against more employees of the Treasury Department.
