Lamka, November 07 2010:
The JAC of Khuga dam once again rapped the State Government over alleged failure to address their grievance despite the Chief Minister giving them tall promises on a couple of occasions.
As the second deadline of the JAC extended after the Chief Minister met them here on November 2 expired today, the JAC said they were unhappy with the way their demands have been treated by the Government.
Barely one fourth of the bills of the contractors are on the list that was approved by the IFC Minister, Lalpu Hangshing, the JAC secretary said today.
'The Minister has rejected many of the bills on the ground that they have no technical sanction or certificate despite the fact that all the works are sanctioned by the Government.
It is not the fault of the contractors, but the Government's,' he said alleging that the Department has rationalized the bills at their own whims.
He also accused the Minister of adopting divide and rule policy as there are enough individuals who offer him the opportunity by din of their personal greed in the form of Contractors Forum and Association.
The bills are classified into hitherto unknown entities, double and general.
From where all these categories comes are doubtful, he alleged.
On the main component of the dam, the JAC commended works undertaken by PHE Department even as they express reservation on progress of the canal as well as the response on verifying worthiness of the dam.
'It was an expert team of the Centre, and not from the IFC that we have demanded.
As for the canal the success rate could be put only at 25 pc,' JAC asserted.
