Two persons sustained bullet injuries during a shoot out among unidentified gunmen at Nepali Basti, Moreh Ward No.6 near the Masjid at around 11 am today.
The injured persons have been identified as David alias Wilson Madraji (33) s/o AJ David of Moreh Ward No 3 and T Ngamkhosei Haokip (55) s/ o late Yamthong Haokip of Moreh Ward No 2.David was hit by a bullet on the side of his neck while Ngamkhosei was hit on the back.
Both of them have been admitted to the Primary Health Centre, Moreh.
Moreh police recovered a Yamaha motorcycle which has no number plate and nine empty cartridges of 9 mm pistol from the site of the shoot out, according to report.
Following the incident, Moreh market remained closed for the day and police patrol has been intensified in the border town.
Later in the afternoon, a joint public meeting was held at Hawa Mahal of Moreh Police Station with ADC-in-charge of Moreh Th Ibohal in the chair to discuss the recent spate of violent incidents in the town and to find a solution to end all these.
During the meeting the denizens of the town expressed their willingness to extend full co-operation to the security personnel in restoring normalcy in the town.
Representatives of Tamil Sangram; Meetei Council, Moreh; Meetei Muslim Council, Moreh and leaders of Nepali Community settled in the border town were present at the meeting.
