Imphal, May 10 2021:
ACOAM-Lup has drawn the attention of authority concerned towards the need for ensuring that emergency wards in hospitals do not become spreader of Covid-19 as such wards in JNIMS and RIMS hospitals are witnessing large number of patients without any separation for Covid-19 or non-Covid patients.
In a release, ACOAM-Lup joint secretary Th Baleswar pointed out that RIMS emergency ward has Covid-19 patients kept with normal patients due to surge in positive cases in recent days, but this poses great risk to the non-Covid patients as well as the medical staff.
Authority concerned must take the matter seriously and shift Covid-19 patients to Covid wards and ensure that there is no contact between them and normal patients as far as possible, it urged.
The Lup further appealed to people to stay at home, however inconvenient it may be to break the chain of transmission as there is increasing number of positive cases and deaths in the second wave of the pandemic.
