Imphal, May 10 2021:
Agriculture minister O Lukhoi said that the state government has taken up necessary arrangements and kept adequate stocks of fertilisers for use during Kharif season in order to ensure availability of fertilisers to the farmers.
The minister along with department officials visited the department warehouse at Lamphelpat and assessed the existing stocks of fertilisers.
Interacting with media at the warehouse, Lukhoi said that the department officials are putting their best efforts to prevent scarcity of fertilisers and selling of the same in black market, which were evident in previous years.
Among the major reasons for scarcity of fertilisers are occurrence of landslide and imposition of bandh or blockade along the highway, he said.
However, this year, the government has already started lifting state's quota of fertiliser for Kharif season so that the quantity allocated for the state could be lifted before the rainy season.
Considering the arrangements being taken up by the department the state will no longer face fertiliser scarcity this time, the minister confided.
