Complaint case registered on sale of fake pesticide

Imphal, August 17 2022: District Consumer Disputes, Redressal Commission, Imphal West on Wednesday directed to register a consumer case against HP Singh, who is the proprietor of Stockiest in Plant Production Chemicals, Agri Implements, Horticulture & Seeds, Paona Bazar, now at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai.

Laiphrakpam Ranjit Singh, a farmer, lodged a complaint stating that he purchased a pesticide namely Val-Premi-um from HP Singh stockiest on July 7 for applying in his paddy field as the paddy plants were infected The complainant further alleged that while applying the said Val-Premium to the infected paddy plants the infection was not cured and being unsatisfied with the action of Val-Premium, the complainant enquired about any other pesticide to cure the infections on his paddy plants and another pesticide namely Val-Xtra was given by the salesman of M/S Eastern Agro and Chemical, Uripok Panchi Maning Imphal and while applying it the complainant got best result than the Vai-Premium.

It is further alleged that the ValPremium is a fake one which used the patent right of Val-Xtra without authorisation in order to attract the confidence and trust of the farmers.

Upon hearing the submission made by the counsel of the complainant and also perusal of the documents on records, the commission directed to register it as consumer complaint case and issued notice to the respondent returnable by September 19.The appearance of the respondent has been listed on the aforementioned date for written statement/version of the respondent.
